Why the Wrong Compressor Lubricant Can Increase Bearing, Rotor and Separator Problems

Compressor oils require viscosity stability, oxidation resistance, anti-foam behaviour and material compatibility matched to the machine.

Not all oils perform the same job

A screw compressor lubricant is not simply “another industrial oil”. It may need to cool the element, lubricate bearings, seal rotor clearances and release air rapidly in the separator.

Consequences of mismatch

Wrong viscosity or weak oxidation/anti-foam performance can contribute to wear, deposits, excessive foaming, carryover and reduced reliability.

Before purchase

Confirm compressor model, OEM specification, operating temperature and environment. Never assume ISO VG 46 is universally suitable simply because it is common in compressor service.
