Hydraulic Cleanliness: How Contamination Accelerates Pump and Valve Wear

Particles and degraded fluid can increase wear, block passages and make precision hydraulic components unreliable.

Why particles matter

Hydraulic pumps and valves operate with close clearances. Dirt, wear debris or incompatible fluid can create abrasive wear, increase leakage and cause sticking or erratic control.

Control points

Filter selection, filter maintenance, clean transfer equipment, sealed storage and flushing during fluid changes are practical contamination-control measures.

Selection note

The right hydraulic fluid supports wear protection and filterability, but oil quality cannot compensate for poor contamination control. Treat lubricant and cleanliness as one maintenance system.
