Where the problem starts
Water may enter through condensation, wash-down, leaking coolers or humid environments. Once present, it can promote rust, accelerate oil ageing and interfere with a stable lubricating film.
What to watch
Milky oil, corrosion, rising particle counts, filter issues or recurring moisture are warning signs. Correct the ingress source rather than only changing oil.
Lubricant requirement
For wet-prone applications, corrosion protection and demulsibility are important alongside the required viscosity and gear performance specification.
